How to Win an Interviewers Heart?
1. Dress appropriately for the interview. For boys, its definitely suit and tie where as girls, you should dress either Baju Kurung or suit and tie just like the boys. How do you make yourself look more appealing? Try wearing a white suits instead of black and grey, but remember you must portray a confident look at all time if you decide to wear one. It may look like you are not humble, but looks are important to portray your passion in the job or the course you asked for.
2. Knock before you enter. Ask them if you can seat. Before you sit, hand each of them your result's photocopy, your certifications and your IV. How to make a good IV? Click here - (How to Build an interesting IV/Resume?) for a sample. This will be a bonus for you.
3. There will be a skeptical interviewer ( the one who didn't smile at all). Don't fret, it's either because they are tired or they are just being skeptical to see how you control the interview session. Just look at them at their eyes and always maintain your smiles. Don't show your teeth thou, it may get a bit scary. You can ease up the tense atmosphere by asking for their names.
3. Finally, the thing you've been waiting for, the Q&A session! Don't get nervous. Practice these lines for these questions, so you would be fully prepared for the interview session.

(a) Introduce yourself
Hi! My name is Zulaika but you can call me Elaika. I am very passionate in accounting and finance. Since my auntie is a Chief Financial Officer in Maybank, I've been closer to this passionate dream of mine and I want to become one for myself. I spend my free time teaching Mathematics to my cousin and I always try to learn something new everyday for the past few months. I've been searching ways on how to become an ACCA member because of it's qualities and benefits. However, I cannot follow my desire fully since my parents are just laborers who cannot support my whole ACCA journey.
(b) Why do you want to be in this field?
All organizations have one thing in common. They need accountancy professionals who understand finance, who can play a fundamental role in running the business and make the business a success.
(c)Talk about your family?
I came from a family of 6 consist of my parents, me and my 3 siblings. My eldest sister is pursuing her tertiary education in UiTM Shah Alam where as my 2 younger brothers are still in elementary. My mother who works as a teacher is also making tuition classes as a side income. On the other hand, my dad who works as a graphic designer, is taking on small projects like doing events banners or designing logo as one of his side job. Now, we are living with our grandmother and my parents are responsible to support her medicine fees every month. The reason why I would like to ask for your gratitude in endowing me with this scholarship is because due to these unfortunate circumstances.
(d) What would you like to achieve if you are given the scholarship?
I would like to dedicate my whole life to business and accountancy. I would love to become professional in accountancy so that later I can contribute to the company I'll be working for and also the whole country if I may do so. Working in an organization has always been my dream and because of that I may become their backbone and make the business a success.
(e) What do you see yourself in 10 years from now?
I would see myself as a successful financial officer working for top organization in Malaysia like Maybank or Bank Islam and I believe with the right education and attitude, I may make my dream come true.
(f) Why should you be our scholar?
I know you have met a lot of great candidates out there and they also want to be professional in this industry. However, there's only people who can make it and who will not make it. While I hope to be the ones who can make it, I don't want to underestimate anything and I have already making a plan B which is I would go for diploma in accountancy and later take a degree in UM as well as applying for ACCA. So the fact that if you are going to invest in me, I'm sure it's not going to be wasteful as whatever path I chose, it's definitely will and always be Accountancy!
(g) What is your specialty / Strength?
My strong point is attention to detail but since I'm an outgoing person, most of my friends told me that I am approachable too.
(h) What is your weak points/ Weaknesses?
Since I am a detailed person, I may sometimes hand in my work late but, throughout 17 years of my life, I have learned and am still learning ways on how to adapt quickly to situations. If I think the situation is dreary for me to hand it on time, I may as well do my best with the time given.
(i) What is your career choice and why?
I would like to become a Chief Financial Officer or a Tax Auditor because I like managing the financial risks.
(j) Do you know what you are applying too?
Yes I do. I am applying to a professional accountancy course, ACCA through the CAT path. CAT ..... ( You can just keep on explaining what you understand about the course, but do make a few pause and tell them 'that is why I chose this course instead of others' ) If you want to know more about CAT-ACCA path, click here - (CAT-ACCA path)
4. Last but not the least, when you have finished the interview, ASK them questions. This shows them that you are very interested in becoming their scholar. For example: "When will the students enroll after the results are out?". You can also ask something that doesn't have any connection with the course you're applying too. This will show that you pays deep attention to this interview. For example: "How do a candidate/applicants stands out from the rest? I would deeply appreciate your opinions"
5. Before you leave the room, don't forget to say thank you and smile charmingly. You may shake hands with the interviewers and if you can't (this is for the muslims), you can put one hand at your chest
